DO-HNS Part 2 October 2020
Further to the announcement made on 3 August 2020 about the proposed changes to the DO-HNS Part 2 (https://www.intercollegiatemrcsexams.org.uk/announcements/changes-to-dohns-part-2-osce-october-2020-due-to-covid-19/), and the announcement made on 3 September 2020 about the dates on which the DO-HNS Part 2 will be delivered (https://www.intercollegiatemrcsexams.org.uk/announcements/dohns-part-2-october-2020-exam-date-information/), the four Royal Surgical Colleges can confirm that the GMC have approved these plans.
Furthermore, the four Royal Surgical Colleges can confirm that, for the October 2020 DO-HNS Part 2 (OSCE):
- The ‘written’ stations will be delivered as a remotely-delivered online exam on 19 October 2020
- The ‘clinical’ stations will be delivered in-person in a socially-distanced fashion between 20 and 22 October 2020) across three sites in London, Glasgow and Dublin.
Candidates will be contacted by the College at which they will sit the exam with information on the exact date they will be sitting the ‘clinical’ station component of the exam. As previously noted, this may be different to the College to which a candidate originally applied so that candidates can sit at the centre nearest to them with sufficient capacity.
If COVID-19 restrictions are amended such that one or more of the Colleges are unable to run the ‘clinical’ component of the exam at a particular centre, the exam will be delivered remotely in the same format in late November to the affected candidates.
The cancellation of one exam centre will not cause the cancellation of the exam at other venues and other Colleges.
Candidates are encouraged to check and consider Government advice and to take all guidance into account when making travel and accommodation arrangements to attend an examination.
