May 2022 MRCS Part A Important information for candidates
05 May 2022
Candidates of the MRCS Part A examination on Tuesday 10 May are advised to read the exam day procedures document carefully to ensure they are familiar with the requirements. These can be found at: https://www.intercollegiatemrcsexams.org.uk/mrcs/mrcs-part-a-pearson-vue-information/. It is the candidate’s responsibility to ensure they attend the centre at the correct time and provide appropriate identification for entry to the exam as detailed in the document.
The Intercollegiate Committee for Basic Surgical Examinations (ICBSE) and the four Surgical Royal Colleges of the United Kingdom and in Ireland have worked with Pearson Vue to ensure that common issues that may arise on the day of the MRCS Part A examination on 10 May can be resolved locally, with Pearson Vue notifying Colleges directly where necessary. Colleges will then follow up with the candidates as soon as possible after the exam.
If an unforeseen event occurs at a test centre on the day of the exam that prevents candidates from taking the exam, Pearson Vue will report the issue to ICBSE and the four Colleges. The Colleges and Pearson Vue will be unable to allocate a replacement test centre, and candidates will be offered a free deferral of the exam to the next sitting in September 2022. Candidates should notify their College of entry by email of the situation and await confirmation of the next steps.
The results of the May 2022 MRCS Part A examination will be released on Wednesday 15 June. Candidates who are unsuccessful in the MRCS Part A in May 2022 and who wish to apply for the exam in September will have a one-week extension to the closing date for applications, and should therefore apply for the September 2022 MRCS Part A exam by Friday 24 June.
ICBSE and the four Colleges would like to take this opportunity to wish every candidate the very best of luck in the forthcoming MRCS Part A examination.
